When I finished the home theater, I bought a wall-mounted shelving unit to store my DVD's and CD's.  When it came time to finish the bar, I decided to use one of the same units to hold our liquor bottles and glasses.

The picture to the left shows the "double-wide" media shelving unit.  These things are never quite as big as they seem on the web site or catalog.  I decided to get a "tripple-wide" for the bar.

We made the decision to get a big, full-sized refrigerator for the bar so that we would also have ample extra freezer space.  The silver and black one we found at Home Depot matched the rest of the basement nicely, including the new liquor shelf.

Originally I just had a folding table under the liquor shelf.  When I picked up some kitchen cabinets and a counter-top to use as a bar, I found that the shelves were a bit too low.  The picture to the right shows the whole bar area.  Notice how the counter-top barely fit under the shelves.

That's Kaylee learning how to get me a beer.

Eventually I raised the shelves so as not to crowd the counter-top surface.  For the bar I used two 30" kitchen cabinets.  This resulted in a gap in the middle bottom toe space.  I suppose normally in a kitchen you would just get one 60" cabinet, but in this case I got a good deal on the 30" ones at a wholesale outlet.

Plus it was bad enough getting the 30" cabinets down the stairs.  I don't know if a single 60" one would've made it.  I have some spare floor board trim that perfectly matches the wood.  One of these days I'll put some around the base of the bar.
