The biggest motivational factor that kept me going during the two and a half years it took me to finish my basement was the idea of having our own home theater. What started out as a nice add-on to our house, quickly became one of our favorite activities after Kaylee was born.
I originally bought the projector, an NEC HT1100, about two years ago. I did this to see just how big the screen would be, and get an idea where the speakers would go. It also helped to figure out exactly where I needed to mount the projector, and where to run the cable and electrical wire.
The screen is a 4x7 foot sheet of Parkland Plastic, water proof wall panel mounted to a wooden frame. The frame is made of trim covered in black felt. The whole thing is mounted to a wooden frame. Around the outside of the frame, behind the black trim, I have rope lights on a lamp dimmer (that's the wire hanging down from it).
The large panels to the left and right are made from Homasote, and are used for acoustic absorption. The panel on the left is on hinges and hides my electrical box, and Structured Media Center. The box under the screen is the sub woofer.
The recliners are Berkline 088's. That's two full recliners on each end, and an arm-less love seat in the middle. Right behind them is another sofa that can be turned around and used as a second row.
In the image to the left, you can also see one of the surround speakers mounted in the ceiling, behind the front row.
