Kaylee Sue Builer was born on August 9th 2004 at 10:36 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.
This picture was taken when Kaylee was only about 10 minutes old, right after the nurses cleaned and examined her. The only time she cried was when she got pricked with a needle so that the nurse could take some blood.
For the first two days, Kaylee slept about 22 hours a day. She only woke up long enough to eat. She could barely even stay awake while we changed her first dirty diaper.
Everyone was very happy when daddy changed his first dirty diaper for Kaylee.
Our nurse told us that we were very "mellow" parents, especially since it was our first child. She thought that this would help us have a "mellow" child. We sure hope so.
On the third day in the hopital, the nurse asked us to dress Kaylee up so she could take her picture. This was the first time Kaylee was out of her "hospital gown", and in normal clothes. She didn't like it too much! She cried almost the whole time.
The picture on the right was one of only two out of 7 pictures taken where Kaylee opened her eyes. Being that it was only day 3 for Kaylee, this was a rare occasion.
On day four it was time for Kaylee to go and see her new home. This picture was taken right after Kaylee got her Hepatitis shot, and was strapped in her car seat.
As you can see, she recovered pretty quickly from the shot and fell back asleep. It was a quiet ride home.
